More than eighteen years of lessons shape Agua’s brand history. Co-founders Mariana Hinestroza and Catalina Álvarez from Medellin, Colombia, began crafting swimsuits in 2003 for friends and family using leftover fabrics and their grandmothers' sewing machines. They met in college while studying fashion design and became close friends and business partners. Both are mothers, with Mariana having two children and Catalina three, while they affectionately consider their brand, Agua Bendita and Agua by AB, as their additional "children." They are visionary entrepreneurs and the creative forces behind the label.
